Mr Jason Sibbel

Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Jason Sibbel is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising exclusively in knee surgery. His practice covers the full spectrum of knee conditions, with particular expertise in sports knee injuries, ACL and complex ligament reconstruction, joint preservation surgery, and partial and total knee replacement.

His approach is centred on understanding each patient’s individual goals and tailoring treatment accordingly, from non-operative management and joint-preserving surgery through to ligament reconstruction and knee replacement.

Background

Mr Sibbel studied medicine at the University of Oxford and Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ School of Medicine, graduating in 2012. He completed his specialist orthopaedic training on the Cambridge rotation and achieved his Certificate of Completion of Training in 2022.

Following his specialist training, Mr Sibbel undertook two years of subspecialist fellowship training in knee surgery and trauma. At the internationally renowned Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in Australia and Frimley Park Hospital in the UK, he gained extensive experience in modern ACL and multi-ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral surgery, complex osteotomy and joint preservation techniques, as well as partial and total knee replacement.

He completed his final fellowship at the Royal Sussex Major Trauma Centre in Brighton, further developing his expertise in complex knee injuries, multi-ligament reconstruction and lower limb trauma.

Mr Sibbel is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, where his elective practice is dedicated to knee surgery. His clinical interests range from sports knee surgery and complex knee reconstruction to partial and total knee replacement, with a particular interest in enhanced recovery and fast-track knee replacement surgery.

Research interests

Mr Sibbel has published scientific papers and book chapters across a range of topics in knee surgery and has presented his work at national and international surgical meetings.

He also has a strong interest in surgical education and training and regularly teaches the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. He has lectured on regional training programmes and has acted as an examiner and faculty member on surgical courses.

Personal Interests

Jason lives in Surrey with his wife and twin children. Outside work, he enjoys tennis and rugby. He played competitive tennis to national level in his youth and later captained his Oxford college rugby team.
