It’s always so great to hear from our patients that they have gone through their own unique journey with us, from initial consultation all the way through to recovery and beyond. Here are just some of the success stories that we have had from some of our patients who have undergone hip surgeries with us and are now back to doing what they love best!
Derek
Derek underwent robotic knee surgery at Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford after suffering 60 years of knee pain caused by playing rugby. His surgeon, Mr Oliver Templeton-Ward, used robotic technology to replace Derek’s knee in one of the first procedures carried out using a robot.
He was amazed to discover his knee pain had gone so quickly after the surgery and is anticipating a more active future, especially with his pet. “I know the dog has missed me and I’m looking forward to getting out and about with him again, although I suspect that whilst I’m getting used my new knee, he’ll be walking me!”

“I had spent most of my life competing in high level sport and I’d been nursing my arthritic hip joint for some time, so having surgery was a concern to getting back to full fitness for a guy in his 50’s
The team at Mount Alvernia hospital were nothing short of amazing. From the surgeon, Kerry Acton and his direct team who operated, all the way through to the nursing team. I’ve seen many quality teams in my business career but this is one of the best. The physiotherapy, both while in the hospital and since coming out have been excellent.
